18 Going on 80. :)

As part of our grading in the subject Presentation Skills, I had to deliver a 3-minute speech to a class of faces bored with speeches on economic recession, financial reform and the like. I chose to speak on a topic dear to me, and gave a persuasive speech on how reading, though a conventionally unpopular (especially given my age) hobby is a brilliant one. I spoke about how my grandfather inculcated a lifelong love for books in me. I prepared a short Powerpoint presentation that played in the background that elicited a variety of 'awww's and 'so sweeeeeet's. I shared the story due to my firm belief that stories have a more lasting impact than statistics and pedantic facts.
I've put up the slides here. Do take a look. :)

Stumbled upon your blog a month ago. I read through a fair deal of this blog. You are a natural writer, as is evident from the content. I regret the fact that I didn't have anyone as your grandfather to instill the love for books in me.

Been quite scratchy as far reading goes. Slightly jealous too. :)

i love the concept but why the title???

Nitisha said...

Thanks, Rikta :)

Well, the story behind the title is simple enough. It's my perspective at the age of 18, on my grand-dad who is now running 80.
:)

Rikta Doshi said...

well, that did cross my mind. i couldn't help thinking that 80 could be the number of books u've read so far - although i wont be surprised if its touched a 100 or more

Nitisha said...

Not that I keep count, but I get the feeling I might have crossed the 100 book mark! :D
