We Are A Deep Conversation.

"It's a still life water color,
Of a now late afternoon,
As the sun shines through the curtained lace
And shadows wash the room.
And we sit and drink our coffee
Couched in our indifference,
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
The borders of our lives. "

-The Dangling Conversation, Simon and Garfunkel

You can say I am an enthusiastic collector of subjective experiences. I tend to weigh one against the other, add, subtract, divide, multiply, and create the outline of a story where you and I play active or passive roles, sometimes just a cameo. I enjoy thinking all of us, the entire population of the planet, and all their combined activities, thought and emotions are collectively responsible for the feelings I feel, the things that I do and the society I live in. I enjoy believing that even as we are silent, we are in deep conversation with each other at some intrinsic level. Speaking of society, I was born into dogma, like we all are, perhaps to understand the difference between personal truth and myth, though both are equally subjective. I guess we have to learn the box exists to truly get out of it. I've been told that I have a way with words, as I should, because they were my first friends to shape my impressions of the world into something symbolic and intangible. Their reckless use inspires destruction, just as their adept use inspires creation. I believe every person must know how to master their words. I know I try to everyday. I lose half my day to dry academia and examinations, I lose my free time being a victim to some prolific writing on the internet or social networking. The rest of time I spend in a happy daze, bubbling conversation and more than a few laughs. I believe imagination is limitless, anger an illusion. I detest cynicism, especially when I see it in people my age.

Day is turning into night, night to day. So, talk, and make me understand your world view.
We are, after all, a conversation in progress. A deep one, at that.

You do have your way with words. And I am sure all 58 of your followers would like to agree.
I loved this post, and how beautifully it was expressed and put into words. :)

Some S&G songs are just so brilliant man! And do you know, Carl Jung said the same thing you have here?

He thought that are thoughts and feelings are part of a 'human collective' which is why we dream of such absurd things..those are our thoughts enmeshing with everybody else's.

Isn't it a brilliant idea? The idea that we're all..seven billion of us, connected in the depths of our minds?

This is one of my most favourite posts on your blog, Nitisha. :)

And the beauty of that .gif image! :) Just noticed it when I reread this from my laptop after using my cellphone the first time around.

At some level, I have started believing that even as we are talking, we are not able to communicate enough. Or maybe that is just another issue I have, which is more likely the case. And I seem more convinced after reading this.

Hey, Hi

well true, we are just another conversation in the endless cycles of day and night...
Words are sacred, for as you said, they could paint the picture very well, and its upto us to use the right one at the right time...

words, they say a lot...to the ones who are willing to listen...

The Silhoeutte...

What an amazing outpour of comments, a compliment in itself. Thank you. :)

First off, I absolutely adore the .gif image too! In fact, I found that first, and shaped the post around it. :)

And oh gosh, Carl Jung was such an influential thinker, and I don't even have much faith in psychiatry.
He once said, 'In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.' and I think, that truly sums up this blog post.

Also, I am convinced in the sheer power of words to shape opinions and change minds. Aren't you? :)
