Read this summer:
Chowringhee by Sankar.
The Catcher in the Rye.
The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
Reading:
One flew over the cuckoos nest. :)
Gora.
(I read two books at the same time... kind of like a habit I;ve had as long as I can remember :P)
To Read:
Midnights Children.
Treasure Island.
The God of Small Things.
:) Happy Reading!!! :)
I'm currently reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams and Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. I have that two disparate books at a time reading habit, too.
Once I finish either one, I'm starting Flesh and Blood by Michael Cunningham followed by The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene.
Oh, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is brilliant! So is anything by Bill Bryson. Do let me know what you think of Choke, I keep intending to read something by Palahnuik but I never get around to it.
How are we all reading/have read "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"?
That's serendipitous, nothing else. How I love blog friends, the only people who recognize names like Ken Kesey and Bryson. :) :)
And hey, I read no less than 3 books at any given time, so I'm probably worse off than you two.
Ice Maiden, you haven't read TREASURE ISLAND yet? How is that possible? :O
And please tell me how you like Midnight's Children.
Actually both of you, give me reviews of everything you're reading. :)
I havent read a whole bunch of books that everyone else actually :P .. I was always a fantasy person! Read em' all :) .. and a die hard LOTR fan. (and someone who barfs when people call Twilight 'writing') :P
@Ice Maiden: Check that. :P

The reason I read it was because my psych prof recommended the movie and once I watched the movie I absolutely HAD to read the book! :D Jack Nicholson is an awesome Randle McMurphy!
And people around you dont recognise Bryson? Many people in my college are fans..in fact, I've only read borrowed books by him! :D People are missing out on so much man!
As for the reviews, anything by Douglas Adams is, as usual, absolutely smart, witty and surprisingly profound.
Far from the Madding Crowd is good, too. Tess of the d'Urbervilles is definitely my favourite book by Thomas Hardy, but I like Far from the Madding Crowd for how pastoral and calming it is, which is a perfect antidote to my increasingly hectic internship..
And I second Ice Maiden! LOTR is an epic in the truest sense of the world..in fact, Tolkien generated the mythological output of an entire civilization single-handedly..the movies are fabulous, too! :)
Also, as far as fantasy novels go, Terry Pratchett is fantastic, too! My blog-buddy Riddhi introduced me to him, and I am loving his writing style.
And I think the only half-way entertaining book about vampires was Abraham Lincoln : Vampire Hunter..yes, that title makes the eyes pop doesnt it? But it doesnt take itself too seriously and it is pretty good timepass! :D They're making a movie out of it, too..now that I wud watch! :D
Okay, I have officially blabbed my head off! :) Read away..and tell me all about Choke later.
I am THRILLED to meet another LOTR fan! Awesome! :) :)
When I was in college, a friend of mine happened to pass me The Bartimaeus Trilogy - and I was hooked. Its one of those lesser known fantasy novels which do not involve vampires or elves or dwarfs.. but djinni's! :) Its a good read. Try that! :)
Loved the bartimaus trilogy - specially part 1 when Nanathiel was a small boy.
Did u ever get through 'Five point someone'?Try for it!
Ooh! I have read it.. And the His Dark Materials trilogy! And the Inheritance books..I am a slight fantasy/sci-fi nut..and Ice Maiden, you have great taste! :)
